How do I get started?
Download FamilyForest from the App Store , then create your first family tree by tapping the "+" button on the home screen.
How do I create a family tree?
Tap "+" to create a new tree. Choose a patrilineal (father's line) or matrilineal (mother's line) lineage mode, give it a name, and start adding your first family member. From there, use the directional buttons on the canvas to add parents, children, spouses, and siblings.
How does iCloud sync work?
Your family tree data is automatically synced across your devices through your personal iCloud account using Apple's private CloudKit. All data remains private to your Apple ID. You can check your sync status in Settings → iCloud.
Is my data private?
Yes. All your data is stored locally on your device and synced only through your personal iCloud private database. The developer cannot access your family tree data, photos, or any content you create. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Can I export my family tree?
Yes! From the canvas view, you can export your family tree as a high-resolution PNG image or PDF. The export includes your tree's name and a decorative border that reflects your chosen lineage type.
How do I share my family tree with relatives?
Export your tree as a PNG or PDF from the canvas view, then share it via any app on your device, including Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or social media.
How do I delete data?
You can delete individual family members or entire trees from within the app. To remove all data, go to Settings → Data Management → Clear All Data. This will delete all locally stored data and sync the deletion through iCloud.
What languages does FamilyForest support?
FamilyForest is fully localized in English and Simplified Chinese.
What iOS version do I need?
FamilyForest requires iOS 26.0 or later. It is compatible with iPhone and iPad.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Use the built-in feedback feature in Settings → Feedback. This will compose an email with optional diagnostic logs that can help us troubleshoot your issue. You can also email us directly at the address below with details including your device model and iOS version.
